February is Black History Month!!
Thank you for your wonderful participation during our Black History Month celebration!! Our participants created some powerful poems and paintings that honors the beauty, joy, struggles and contributions of African-Americans. A couple of poems from our creatives are below.
Rising from pain
flying unto another plane
of existence,
hope is African-Americans' transcendence.
With fortitude covered in dignity
while being brave
paved the way for freedom.
Captors didn’t steal slaves.
They stole inventors, scientists
doctors, poets and made them slaves
by taking their freedom and trying to strip their intelligence.
Please know the difference.
They stole potential, possibility and promise
yet there was a shift-
a Rising!
February may have come to an end, however the contribution and celebration of diversity continues!
January 11th is National Human Trafficking Awareness Day. Send us an email for a line-up of our events. Be aware and find out how you can help. We created the "Backstory of a Blue Barrette" to raise awareness. Just as a butterfly embrace its metamorphosis, we empower survivors to transform their trauma into triumph! Butterflies represents new beginnings and hope, as they emerged from the chrysalis of self-development. Our resident cat, "Prince" is poignantly modeling the barrette on his collar. Stay tuned for more pictures.
Additionally, January is National Slavery and Human Trafficking Prevention Month. Learn how we're helping trauma survivors heal!
We provide empowering poetic speeches within the community virtually, at conferences, workshops and retreats. Our CEO, Regena Robinson also conducts inspirational interviews as part of World Poetry's "Transforming trauma Into Triumph" initiative. Contact us if you would like to be invited to hear our powerful spoken word performances, would like to book one of our artists or receive the schedule for our interviews.
Join our global conversation!
